Eighth grade Spanish classes celebrated
El Dia de los Muertos or the day of dead. This traditional Mexican
holiday celebrates the lives of relatives who have passed away
by making alters or "ofrendas" in their homes to honor
their ancestors.
Special foods, drinks, flowers and sentimental
objects are placed on the ofrenda to lure the spirits back to
their homes. It is a time of family, remembrance and love and
is in sharp contrast to Halloween!
Below are some of the ofrendas produced
by students. |
