"Explaining Our World: Fact and Fiction"
By: Stephanie, Cassidy, and Olivia

The title of our English unit was, "Explaining Our World, Fact and Fiction," and that’s exactly what all 106 of us did! We each were assigned 1-3 natural disasters to research. Our English teacher, Mr. Varga, gave us a few of the school's laptops for us to share and research, with while we were in class. At the end of one week, we had to put information together and created a 3-D model along with a research paper.

There was one thing that all of our reports had in common: Mount St. Helens! This tremendous volcano erupted in 1980, and had a very big impact on the landscape and people around it. Other topics students researched included snowstorms, hurricanes, tsunamis, and more! Once everyone brought in their masterpieces, we got to present, which included the eruption of paper maché volcanoes! This unit helped us understand how natural disasters effect the mysterious world around us.
