So you'd like to know what we did at Camp Bournedale?

By: Stephanie, Trish, and Olivia

Wednesday

Wednesday morning, we all arived at school, ready to expierience the chance of a life time. We dropped our bags off at the buses behind the school, and waited patiently for the bus ride to finally come. You could see how anxious we all were, if you just listened to us talk about it for the entire week before we went. So when the time came, we all boarded the buses, and got ready to go to camp.

The bus ride seemed like it was less than 2 hours, because we were all so excited to arrive. When we got there, we pulled up, and all 4 buses were in a line. The activites director, Joel, came around to each bus and asked us to meet him in the gym, where he told us ALL about camp. What we would be doing that day, where to go, what to do incase we got lost :-). He told us we were taking each day step by step, and he would give us instructions for tomorrow when the day came.

He gave us about 10 minutes to unpack in our cabins, and get use to camp life. After the 10 minutes were up, he blew his whistle(which we all soon got use to) and you could hear it throughout all of the cabins.

We then had lunch, and if I say so myself, the food? It was AWESOME! I must say the kitchen staff did a lot of work to feed us ALL throughout the three days. We got into groups and put 2 groups together per table. The dining hall was really big, and we all fit, but with hardly any space left over! After lunch, we went to our first class. Our classes consisted of

*Adventure

*Canals

*Coastal Ecology

*Marine Lab

*Ceramics

*Rocketry

*Pond Studies

*Native Culture

From my classes, and what I heard from my friend's expieriences, they were all really fun! After lunch, we had REC time. During REC time, we could play soccer, hockey, dodgeball, tennis, or basketball. I spent my time playing dodgeball, and it was SO much fun, and pretty intense! Some of my friends were playing soccer or hockey, and they really enjoyed them too!

After our first REC time, we had our first dinner!! IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!!! Their food is delicious! We had about 25 minutes to eat dinner, then we had our journal time. Our journal time was when we did our daily assignments on the classes we just took.

After we did our journal time, we had our first evening activities! For the activities, one half of us learmed how to line dance in the gym, and the other half did karaoke. After about 30-45 minutes, the groups switched.

Snack time was next, oreos and water were on the menu! We had snack for about 15 minutes, and then we called it a night...or did we?

Once we were in our cabins, (which held 6-16 kids) we took showers, and reluctantly brushed our teeth. Then it was time to go to bed, which some cabins had trouble with...it was like a giant sleepover!

Thursday:

When we woke up, we had REC time starting at 7:00 a.m, and then breakfast at 8. For breakfast, we had little boxes of cereal for our starter, and eggs for the hot portion of the meal. YUM! After breakfast, we ventured to our morining classes, and let me tell you, it wasn't very warm outside! When we returned, we had a half hour REC time before we dined again.

Lunchtime was where we talked about our classes, they were absolutely, positively, fabulous! For lunch, we were served chicken patties, chicken noodle soup, potato chips, and don't forget the jalapeno peppers! After lunch, we went back to our cabins to get any neccesary items for our next class. Then everyone met back at the basketball court to get into their study groups, and journey off to their next class.

After classes, we had even more REC time, and then dinner! Dinner consisted of steak and rice, and cheesy broccoli as a side. Since it was our last dinner, we got a special desert of ice cream sundaes, they had almost every topping you can dream of!

It was time for evening activites! Joel informed us that we would all meet in the gym to watch a magic show. The magician performed tricks from cards to birds, from people to rabbits. He was amazing! Some of the students got to participate in the show, his magic tricks were funny when you saw your classmate helping out with them!

After evening activites, we had oreos and water for snack, and it was off to bed once again. This time, our shower schedules had already been worked out, the beds in place. We went off to bed easily, but still talked until the chaperones told us to quiet down almost 100 times!

In the morning, we had our last class. After that, we enjoyed REC time, had a delicious lunch of pizza and nachos, and then we boarded the buses.

But before buses was pack up... WOW were our bags heavy! The clothing and various gear didn't seem to fit in the duffle bags quite as easily as our parents had made it seem. We were all upset to leave Camp Bournedale, a few more days wouldn't hurt!

Yet we all missed home a little bit, so we reluctantly sat and prepared for a 1 1/2 hour ride home. Traffic wasn't too bad, and people slept on the bus, the 3 days at camp were so tiring, and its not like we actually slept!

Finally, the vehicles stopped, and we unloaded the buses, seeing our parents, who were more excited to have us home than we were. Now all we can think of is how much fun we had, and how we all want to go back!
