Dear Students, Parents and Guardians of Tyngsborough Middle School:

It is with great excitement that I begin my role as Principal of TMS, replacing the large shoes (literally) of Steve Coughlan. Steve leaves Tyngsborough to become Principal of the Hawthorne Brook School in Townsend. I’m sure you, along with me, wish him the best.

This year brings big and exciting changes to TMS and the district as a whole. We have a new and dynamic Superintendent, Dr. Darrell Lockwood, who brings energy and innovative ideas to our district. We also have a new Special Education Administrator, Kim Oliveira. Ms. Oliveira’s name may be familiar to you as the former Principal of the Early Childhood Center. We welcome Ms. Oliveira back to the district, and look forward to working with her.

We have also had other changes at TMS. Mrs. Senecal, our former 6th grade ELA teacher and team leader is now our Assistant Principal. Mrs. Senecal’s wealth of experience and proven leadership will assure her success. I look forward to our partnership as the TMS Leadership Team.

Other staff changes include the departure of Mr. Varga, sixth grade ELA teacher. His replacement is Mr. Chevalier joining TMS from TES. Mrs. Senecal’s replacement will be Mrs. Dick, and Mrs. Downey will replace Mr. Smith’s grade 7 math position. Mrs. Ray joins the academic support staff in the sixth grade. These four professionals are a wonderful addition to an already amazing staff. In addition, we are fortunate to have two very highly qualified long-term substitutes, Ms. Byczkiewicz and Ms. Teal, who will cover Mrs. Petroski-Lewis’ maternity leave and Mrs. Coffey’s medical leave.

One change that you will hopefully embrace is TMS’ effort to go “green”. From this point forward all notices, letters and newsletters from our office will be emailed home and posted on our webpage. It is very important that you provide us with your email address. Please send us an email with your child’s name and grade level in the subject line to " TMSadmin@tyngsboroughps.org " to be added to our distribution list. The TMS website can be accessed from the Tyngsborough Public School website at, " http://www.Tyngsboroughps,org" or directly at "http://www.tyngmiddleschool.org" . If you do not have computer access, copies of all notices will be available in our office for you to pick up.

I am genuinely excited and have high hopes for this upcoming school year. I wish you all great success and look forward to seeing you opening day.
Yours truly,

Debra Lucey
Principal
