D.A.R.E. Graduation
| In D.A.R.E., Officer Rider taught us how to say no to drugs in many fun ways. We saw movies that taught about the harmful effects of drugs and drinking. We also competed against other teams in games that went along with the lessons. Whoever won received a prize such as a pencil, ruler, bouncy balls, and parachute men! In D.A.R.E. we used our booklets every week. We used the information in these books to solve problems with peers. These problems included violence, drug abuse, and peer pressure. Sometimes it was difficult to decide which path to take, but by using the Dare decision-making model we could finally make wise choices. These skills led us to the D.A.R.E. graduation ceremony. The highlight of our classes was the graduation ceremony. First, we introduced the police chief and the other police officers. Then, we listened to Officer Rider get the following people to read their essays: Kara, Olivia, Jeff, Caroline, Kathryn, Brooke, and Bethany! The grand prizewinner of the essay contest was Madison! All of the prizewinners for the contests received a medal, but Madison also got a sweatshirt. Next, each homeroom teacher called out the students, as they gladly took their diplomas and shook hands with Officer Rider. Finally, we left the auditorium and went into the cafeteria and got a piece of cake! So all of you students that have D.A.R.E. next year, you should definitely look forward to it! Congratulations to the students that received their D.A.R.E. diplomas! By: Melissa & Allyson |
